What do we mean by Smart Home & IoT? Things like Amazon Alexa, Apple Homekit, and Google Home are all part of this. While out-of-the-box these devices can be useful – “Alexa, what is the weather supposed to be” or “Hey Siri, play Shaun of the Dead” on Netflix,” there’s so much more that can be done. Want to monitor the temperature of your basement and turn on the heater down there if the temp drops close to freezing? We can do it. Want to be able to turn off the TV, lights, and turn on the outside light on the way to bed with just one step? We can do it. Start your car with a voice command (*auto manufacture app and service required) with the AC on in the summer, heat on in the winter? Yup, we can do that. See at any time all the temperatures of the rooms in your house in one easy dashboard, with trends? You guessed it, we can do that as well. Video security monitoring with motion alerts, IR nightvision, and local recording of events that you can monitor on your phone from anywhere? In the day of “porch bandits,” this is important.

Ion Gear is a full-service Smart Home and Connected Services contractor. We cover everything from complete connected home design and implementation, assisting with your current device setup, or expanding on what you currently have. Or, you can do it yourself with products from our store. We work with most major manufactures or economically (sometimes far less expensive than off-the-shelf devices) create IoT (Internet of Things) devices to monitor and\or control your house. We run our own MQTT server for monitoring, alarms, and data tracking for devices that support the protocol (Arduino, RaspberryPi, and industrial PLCs) for a low monthly or annual subscription.
